NeilPryde started manufacturing sails for the boating industry in 1970. At that time, NeilPryde was one of the largest suppliers in the world with huge customers in sailing. After this, they managed to crown themselves as one of the biggest windsurfing brands of all time!

The history of Neilpryde

In the mid-1970s, sailing was plummeting, but NeilPryde was fortunate that windsurfing was booming. It was only natural that manufacturers from sailing plunged into windsurfing, as it began to grow to enormous proportions. Between 1977 and 1988, the windsurfing company experienced huge highs and lows in windsurfing. NeilPryde was able to survive with a few other windsurfing brands. Partly by moving production to Hong Kong has proved crucial in this struggle. In addition, NeilPryde has always had the drive to be at the forefront of developments in windsurfing.

NeilPryde windsurfing sails

All NeilPryde windsurf gear has its origins on Maui. In the extreme conditions of Maui, a testing team is working daily to develop the products. Every day the R&D team is able to modify the Neilpryde windsurf sails which can then be tested on the water the same day. In addition to the test team on Maui, Neilpryde has a very extensive team running in the PWA, allowing additional information to be passed on to NeilPryde's designers. All Neilpryde windsurf sails are tested and improved to perfection. Besides Neilpryde windsurf sails, various Neilpryde windsurf masts and Neilpryde windsurf booms are also made, which perfectly match the windsurf sails. 

Within the windsurfing world also more and more the windsurf foiling is coming up, with a foil you can be lifted out of the water. This gives you the feeling as if you are floating. NeilPryde has special Neilpryde windsurf foil sails and parts.
