Buy SUP paddle

If you have a nice SUP board in your possession, you would also like a matching paddle! There are many different SUP paddles for sale and there will be one for you anyway.

A SUP paddle does not seem very special in itself, but with a little bit of deepening you quickly find out that it works differently. Important factors of a SUP paddle are weight, blade and material.

How do I choose the right SUP paddle

When you are looking for a new SUP paddle it will probably be quite a search. That is why we have a number of tips for buying a SUP paddle. We can divide a SUP paddle into three parts: the shaft, the blade and the material.

Determine the length of your SUP paddle

When choosing the right shaft size with a SUP paddle, your own length and sailing style are very important to take into account. Fortunately, a formula has been invented for this, namely: Body length +20cm when you go looking for the waves, body length +23 CM for all-round supping and +26 cm for racing.

If your SUP paddle is too long, you can always consider shortening it yourself. Pay attention! If you do this wrong, there is no going back. If you are not sure about the length, an adjustable SUP paddle is an excellent solution! You can adjust this SUP paddle yourself in length and easily take it with you because it can be taken apart into parts. If you have a SUP paddle in one part, you will also have to transport it in one part. However, a paddle that consists of one part is more powerful in use than a divisible SUP paddle.

Determine the size of your SUP paddle blade

The size of your paddle for a SUP paddle is largely influenced by your weight. Are you lightweight? Then the preference quickly goes to a smaller leaf. If you are taller than the average person, it is wise to choose a larger blade for your SUP paddle. Make sure that you make the right choice here, a blade that is too large often causes muscle acidification, which increases the risk of injuries, in which a blade that is too small does not do justice to your strength.

In general, a SUP paddle with a blade of 525cm is the most chosen. Most women use a SUP paddle with blade size of 475cm. Are you big and strong? Then the choice of a 550cm top is not wrong. It is also advisable to select a blade of around 575 cm when looking for waves, because here you can make good use of the surface.

Different materials for SUP paddles

The choice of material of your SUP paddle largely determines its properties. That is why it is important to make a good choice here, so if you are not quite sure about it, feel free to contact us or visit our shop. In general, carbon and aluminum are two of the most common materials for SUP paddles.

  • Carbon SUP paddle: A carbon sup paddle is very light and very stiff, this stiffness results in rebound with every stroke you make. This allows you to achieve high speeds and accelerations, which is why this type of SUP paddle is so popular among professional paddlers. But also as a recreational supper a carbon paddle is not a bad choice! There is only one drawback, and that is the price tag. The costs can be high and once you have a carbon paddle you do not want anything else.
  • Aluminum SUP paddle: The aluminum SUP paddles are the most bought, this is often due to the price. If you are only on your SUP in the summer, you probably don't want to pay too high a price. In addition, there is nothing wrong with an aluminum paddle! Most SUP paddles have an excellent price/quality ratio and deliver the performance you would expect. As a result, you will still be on the water with a big smile together with your children, friends or family.
