An intermediate solution for this daggerboard is a so called center fin. A center fin is a fin that is placed in a box in the middle of the beginner surfboard. This construction has a number of advantages over a daggerboard. The construction is cheaper, lighter and more solid. Furthermore, at an advanced stage, the box can be covered to create a board without a daggerboard.
