BUY IMPACT VESTS AT TELSTAR SURF

Are you looking for an impact vest for during windsurfing, kitesurfing and/or wakeboarding? Check out and read here what to look for when buying an impact vets. Impact vests are made for both wind and kite surfers or wakeboarders. An impact vest protects you from hard hits on the water. With the use of an impact vest injury is limited.

WHAT SHOULD YOU LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING AN IMPACT VEST?

When buying an impact vest it is important to consider for yourself what you are going to use an impact vest for. Thus, a wakeboard impact vest significantly different than a windsurf impact vest or kitesurf impact vest. The big difference is in the protection. The protection of an impact vest for wakeboards continues downwards. You'll probably think; why doesn't a wind/ kitesurf impact vest have that? For windsurfing and kite that is not possible, because there is still a trapeze to fall over. Hence, the surf impact vest is mainly focused on the ribs, where a wakeboard vest continues a little further down.

When buying an impact vest, there are a number of other factors to consider. The various factors are explained below:

  • Type: There are two types of impact vests, some impact vests are longer which makes it harder to use your trapeze optimally. One advantage of the longer impact vests is that they offer more protection over your entire torso. There are also shorter impact vests where trapeze use is easier. A disadvantage of these impact vests is that they do not offer protection over your entire torso.
  • Gender: There are impact vests for both men and women. Not only the color is different, but also the shape / form of the impact vest is different. It is important to take this into account. An impact vest, like a wetsuit should fit well. Hence the importance of taking into account what model you purchase.
  • Size: The size of an impact vest can have a lot of influence on your surfing session. A size that is too small will make the impact vest uncomfortable. A too large impact vest ensures that he slides up in a hard fall. This does not protect the impact vest enough. To choose the right size you can visit the Telstar Surf shop or you can try the vests yourself.

Note: An impact vest protects against falling and absorbs the blows during a crash on the water. Keep in mind that an impact vest has much less buoyancy (similar to wetsuits) compared to a flotation vest.
