What should I look for when buying a 6mm men's wetsuit?
There are many different 6mm men's surfing suits available. In order to make a good choice you will have to make a selection. The following points can make it easier to make a choice:
Fit of a 6mm men's wetsuit
First of all, you will need to find a suitable size that fits your body well. The best way to find this out is to try on different wetsuits. This can be done in the store, but also carefully at home. Use our wetsuit size chart for this.
The comfort of a 6mm men's wetsuit
You'll probably recognize it, but the comfort of a surf suit is perhaps one of the most important things you should look at when buying a 6mm wetsuit. A wetsuit should fit well, but of course not too tight either. Especially in the winter you will have to buy a thicker wetsuit, this can mean that you will have to compromise on freedom of movement, so keep this in mind.
Zipper of a 6mm men's wetsuit
Within the 6mm men's surfing suits you will find three types of zippers, namely frontzip, backzip and zipless. A frontzip wetsuit has a zipper in the front, a backzip zipper is located on the back and a zipless surf suit has no zipper, just an opening that you can step into. These days, a frontzip zipper is wildly popular. This is because of the amount of freedom of movement you receive, this combined with better waterproofing makes it an excellent option. There are also people who still opt for a backzip surf suit, this is entirely up to personal preference.
A zipless wetsuit is new on the market, the wetsuit is relatively easy to put on and offers a tremendous amount of warmth and flexibility. Curious how a zipless wetsuit feels? Come and visit us in the store!
Different stitching methods of 6mm men's wetsuits
There are two ways that the seams of a wetsuit can be sealed, stitched and glued. Stitched seams ensure that the neoprene stays together well, but a disadvantage is that wind and water can get through more easily.
Glued seams are a lot better than stitched seams, but also more expensive. We strongly recommend a wetsuit with glued seams if you are going to surf in colder weather.
