Windfoil boards
Buying guide of a windfoil board
Windfoiling is completely new and upcoming. It is becoming extremely popular! If you like to fly smoothly over the water with only a little bit of wind, then windfoiling is for you! For a number of years, foiling has become a trend in water sports. By using a foil you literally fly over the water and you can cruise endlessly.
WINDFOIL VS. WINDSURF BOARD
With Windfoiling, both the foil, the board and the sail are important. A Windfoil board has a different shape than normal windsurf boards. For example, the foilboards have a wider tail, so that you can put more pressure on the foil. The Foilboards also have a rounder scoop and a round rail at the front of the board. When you drop down with your foil, this shape will cause the board to push you up again to the surface of the water. With a normal windsurf board, the board will dive into the water causing you to go down.
The box of the windsurf boards is also different. The boxes of these boards are reinforced because there is a lot of pressure on the board during foiling. The boards are equipped with a tuttle/foilbox. This means that you can sail on a board with a normal and a foil fin. When purchasing the board it is often stated whether the board is 'foil ready'.
Because windfoiling is becoming a big market and we want to make all our customers happy with the best material and therefor we have a large number of windfoil boards from our top brands such as: Tabou, Fanatic, Starboard, Naish and JP Australia.
SPECIFICATIONS
Because the windfoil boards have their own specifications, we will explain below what makes the foil boards so special compared to the other windsurf boards.
- The WindFoil boards are very short, which means better performance
- The WindFoilboards are wide, creating more stability
- Because of the lift from the water, you no longer suffer from chop and you go smoothly through the water
- The box of the foilboards is super strong because a lot of force is exerted on it
