Caps & beanies

Buying guide for caps & beanies

A cap or beanie can be a solution if you notice that your head gets cold faster or you see less because of the sun during wind- or kitesurfing. At the Telstar Surf shop there is a wide range of beanies and caps available so there will always be a good hood, cap or beanie for you.

What to look for when purchasing a hood, cap or beanie

Type: There are different types of head protectors. There is the hood, the beanie and the cap. A hood is purely focused on protecting your head and possibly the neck in cold weather. Some hoods also have a small cap which also protects your eyes from the sun. The beanie is a hat made of neoprene, the beanies are ideal for the colder fall or spring days. The beanies keep your head warm and comfortable. The caps are often used in the summer and have the function to protect the eyes from the bright sunlight.

Thickness: The thickness of a hood or beanie depends on the weather conditions you are planning to go out with. A thicker hood or beanie will offer more protection against the cold during wind or kite surfing than the thinner hoods or beanies.

Size: The size of your beanie, cap or hood has an important role when looking for buying one. A beanie or hood that is too large or too small can feel uncomfortable. To prevent this, we advise you to put on the hood, cap or beanie before you go on the water with it. You can do this in the Telstar Surf shop or at home.
